Moderation Policy
Last updated: October 2026
1. Our approach
Lynxy is built on anonymity and free expression. We believe people should be able to share thoughts without fear of judgment. At the same time, we have a responsibility to keep the platform safe. Our moderation is minimal by design — we only act on content that crosses clear lines.
2. What we remove
We will remove content that:
- Threatens or incites violence against a specific person or group.
- Contains hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Shares sexual content involving minors.
- Includes another person's private information without their consent (doxxing).
- Is spam or deliberate platform abuse (e.g. automated posting).
- Promotes illegal activity in a direct and harmful way.
3. What we do not remove
We do not remove content simply because it is controversial, offensive to some, or politically charged. Disagreement, dark humour, and uncomfortable truths are part of open discourse. We will not act as arbiters of opinion.
4. How moderation works
Moderation on Lynxy has two layers. First, every submission is screened automatically before it is published. The check runs on our servers, normalises the text to detect common evasions, and compares it against our current rules. If the text appears to break the rules in Section 2, it is not published, and the author sees a notice that the post may violate the Community Guidelines. We do not publish the specific rules or phrases the check uses, because disclosing them would make the check easy to bypass.
Second, moderation is reactive. Because all posts are anonymous, we cannot proactively identify users — we act on content itself. When a post is reported or flagged internally, we review it against the rules in Section 2 and act within 24 hours. If it violates them, it is removed. If it does not, it stays up. Automated screening supports human review; suspensions and bans are always decided by a person.
5. Moderation records
When a submission is blocked automatically, we record the decision privately: the account it came from, the time, the category that triggered it, and the outcome. We deliberately do not retain the rejected text. These records are visible only to our moderation team, are never shown to other users, and are used only to review decisions and to detect repeated abuse. They are deleted together with the account.
6. Account actions
Lynxy has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Violating content is removed, and offending accounts may be suspended or permanently banned. Because accounts are tied to an email address, a ban applies to that email. We reserve the right to act without prior notice when the violation is serious.
7. No appeals (for now)
We currently do not offer a formal appeals process. We make every effort to apply these rules consistently and fairly. If you believe a decision was made in error, you may contact us at support@lynxyapp.com — but we cannot guarantee a review.
8. Reporting content
If you encounter content or behaviour you believe violates this policy, use the Report option in the app or email support@lynxyapp.com with the details. Every report is reviewed and acted upon within 24 hours.
9. Policy updates
This policy may evolve as the platform grows. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use of Lynxy after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
